Campo das Vertentes

Located in the heart of Minas Gerais, the Campo das Vertentes region is characterized by its unique beauty and historical significance, where mountains meet in a landscape of lush nature. The mountainous topography and favourable climate offer ideal conditions for the cultivation of high-quality coffee. With altitudes ranging from 800 to 1,300 meters above sea level and a unique combination of fertile soils and well-distributed rainfall, this region has become a paradise for coffee growers seeking to produce exceptional beans. The influence of terroir, the set of environmental factors affecting coffee cultivation, is evident in the coffees produced in this region. Temperature fluctuations between day and night provide a slow and gradual ripening of the fruits, resulting in dense cherries rich in complex flavours. Additionally, the combination of varied soils, from clayey to sandy, gives unique characteristics to each coffee lot. The impact of specialty coffee production in the Campo das Vertentes region transcends the economic aspect, also influencing the cultural and social identity of the area. Many families depend on coffee farming for their livelihoods, and coffee cultivation has become an integral part of the local lifestyle. The coffee tradition is deeply rooted in the history and traditions of the communities of Campo das Vertentes, reflected in festivals, celebrations, and the warm hospitality offered to visitors.

The diverse geography of Southern Minas offers a variety of microclimates, from gentle plains to rugged mountains, creating ideal conditions for the development of different coffee varieties. This diversity of terroir results in an impressive range of flavour profiles, aromas, and sensory characteristics of the coffees produced in the region. Moreover, Southern Minas is known for its tradition in sustainable farming methods and responsible agricultural practices. Many producers in the region adopt organic and agroecological production techniques, aiming not only for the quality of the final product but also for the preservation of the environment and the well-being of local communities. Over the years, Southern Minas has established itself as a global reference in specialty coffees, winning awards and recognition in national and international competitions. The quality and consistency of the coffees produced in this region attract the attention of discerning buyers and enthusiasts worldwide, significantly contributing to the local economy and projecting Brazil as one of the leading producers of high-quality coffee.
